In 1866 Werner von Siemens built the first functional dynamo and thus established the foundation for the development of electrotechnology.
The distinctive feature of this dynamo is in the armature: It sits fixed onto the drive shaft and is constructed in the shape of a disk that spins between four solenoids.
Siegmund Schuckert, founder of the Company Schuckert & Co in Nuremberg, first built this machine in 1874 and presented it at the Paris Electricity Exhibition in 1881.
