The gyroscopes of Gravity Probe B are the most perfect balls ever produced. If the Earth would be a sphere of comparable perfection, all mountains would be at most two metres above sea-level.

The experiment itself is placed in a cooling box serving for a temperature of only 1,82 degrees above absolute zero.
