Albert Einstein Distances Himself from the Idea of Assimilation
Einstein to the Central-Verein Deutscher Staatsbürger jüdischen Glaubens 5 April 1920, reprinted in the Israelitischen Wochenblatt für die Schweiz, 24 September 1920, reproduction

In his letter to the Central Association of German Citizens of Jewish Faith, Einstein speaks out critically about what he calls “the submissive disposition among us Jews.”

He demands more self-respect and “love for people of our own kind.”
