XMM-Newton Satellite
XMM-Newton is the most powerful X-Ray Multi Mirror telescope ever placed in orbit. It was launched in December 1999 from French Guiana by ESA, with an Ariane 5 rocket. Since then XMM-Newton is orbiting around the Earth on an elliptical orbit, that brings it out to almost one third of the distance to the Moon. It is expected to return data for over ten years.
